Mowgli School

Mowgli School

Igualada

In education, the quality of lighting is a key factor in students' well-being and academic performance. In many schools, especially in urban environments, the lack of natural light can represent a significant challenge, affecting students' ability to see the blackboard and other teaching materials clearly. In this context, the lighting project we have carried out for the Mowgli School in Igualada aims to solve this problem by implementing suspended linear systems of direct and indirect light, specifically designed to improve learning conditions.

The installation of suspended luminaires that emit indirect light is an optimal solution for nursery schools. This type of lighting is characterised by its ability to distribute light evenly throughout the room, avoiding the creation of shadows or glare that can interfere with pupils' concentration. Indirect lighting is particularly effective in environments where natural light is limited, as is often the case in many urban educational institutions. By illuminating the room softly and evenly, it creates a more welcoming and less stressful learning environment.

Luminaires with indirect lighting offer numerous advantages for both students and educational staff. Firstly, indirect lighting contributes to the creation of a more relaxing and comfortable environment, which is essential for concentration and general well-being. In addition, indirect light can be used strategically to highlight certain elements of the classroom, such as reading areas or display spaces, which in turn enriches the educational experience.

From an energy efficiency perspective, luminaires with indirect light are often more cost-effective in the long term compared to direct lighting. By reducing glare and eye fatigue, these luminaires not only improve visibility, but also help maintain a healthy and pleasant environment for all users of the educational space. This investment, while it may seem costly initially, is highly beneficial in the long run, as it not only optimises the academic performance of students, but also improves the overall aesthetics and functionality of the school environment.

The lighting project carried out at the Mowgli School in Igualada has managed to transform the educational spaces through the implementation of suspended linear systems of direct and indirect light. These luminaires not only ensure adequate and efficient lighting, but also contribute to creating a welcoming and visually pleasing environment, which is perfectly in tune with the specific needs of a nursery school. By opting for indirect light luminaires, the Mowgli School has not only improved the quality of lighting, but has taken a significant step towards creating a more modern and efficient educational environment, aligned with best practice in school design.

For this project, we designed and installed a lighting system that combines wall sconces with suspended linear luminaires, creating a visually appealing environment that respects the integrity of the artworks on display. The luminaires selected are direct and indirect light, allowing for a balanced and soft distribution of light throughout the exhibition space. This combination ensures that each piece of art receives the exact amount of light necessary for its correct appreciation, without compromising its conservation.

The use of state-of-the-art LED technology has been key to this project. The LED luminaires are not only highly energy efficient, significantly reducing the museum's electricity consumption, but also provide high quality lighting that can be precisely adjusted to avoid excessive exposure of the artworks to direct light. This control is essential to prevent light damage over time, ensuring that the pieces remain in optimal condition for future generations.

In addition, wall sconces and suspended linear luminaires have been strategically placed to maximise the visual effect without compromising the safety of the works. Direct light is carefully minimised to avoid any possible damage, while indirect light is used to create a welcoming and enveloping atmosphere, enhancing the visitor experience and providing a comfortable working environment for museum staff.

The new lighting system has not only improved the presentation of the museum's collection, but has also contributed significantly to the well-being of staff and visitors. The well-balanced and controlled lighting creates a serene and pleasant atmosphere, inviting visitors to explore and appreciate every detail of the works of art. Furthermore, the energy efficiency of the LED system reinforces the museum's commitment to sustainability, aligning with international best practices in museum management.

We are extremely proud of the work carried out at the Museo de Arte Diocesano de León and are confident that the results will exceed the expectations of both museum staff and visitors. The combination of advanced technology and carefully planned design has enabled us to create a lighting system that not only protects the valuable works of art, but also enhances the visitor experience, making their visit to the museum a memorable one.

If you are looking to enhance the lighting of your cultural or professional space, Celux Lighting is here to help.
